This infill project cultivates growth and breathes new life into a blighted, city block, which had been a primary concern for neighbors. The project’s garden-style design, with homage to the city’s agricultural past, establishes a strong, urban street presence, providing high visibility with new public sidewalks and street lighting to address safety issues. Wide, lushly landscaped pedestrian promenades traverse the interior of the site, encouraging activity and ownership. An onsite biological preserve literally cultivates the growth of a rare Brodiaea flower. The project architecture boasts refreshing, youthful energy, with a pared down, contemporary, neoclassical style.
