The KIA DTLA project reimagines a historic, 100-year-old building on Figueroa Street as a modern urban car dealership. Spanning 133,000 square feet across four stories, the adaptive reuse design integrates a street-facing automotive display, ground-level service center, mezzanine sales offices, and an upper-level showroom. Vehicle storage and service occupy the top floors, enabled by new automotive elevators that maximize efficiency within the existing structure. Contemporary storefront windows and subtle exterior upgrades are carefully balanced with the preservation of original fenestration. The result is a dealership model that honors the building’s past while redefining how automotive retail fits into a dense city fabric.
